Meet Dr. Marcos Da Silveira, a Leader Researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) dedicated to pushing the boundaries of intelligent systems. As a key member of the Knowledge Engineering (HUMOD) group, Dr. Da Silveira focuses on making knowledge-based systems more collaborative and understandable. He's an expert in developing hybrid AI approaches that bring together traditional reasoning with modern statistical methods, helping us understand why intelligent software agents make the decisions they do. Dr. Da Silveira’s work, rooted in Semantic Web Technologies, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Formal Reasoning, directly impacts critical areas. He’s been instrumental in projects that ensure extracting of key information from multimodal sources, keeping the semantics of knowledge graphs accurate and up-to-date over time, transform complex clinical guidelines into clear, formal representations, bridge the gap between personal competences, industry needs, and existing trainings, finally his work reinforce secure ways to share medical data – notably as a designer of the Luxembourgish eHealth Platform. Perhaps one of his most significant contributions is being a lead designer and developer of Dynaccurate, a technology so innovative it led to its own successful Luxembourgish spinoff company! With a Ph.D. in Industrial Informatics from University of Toulouse (France, 2003) and postdoctoral research at LAAS - CNRS, Dr. Da Silveira brings a wealth of experience from his academic roles in Brazil (Pontifical Catholic University of Parana) and Luxembourg (University of Luxembourg) to his research work at LIST.
